Click here for some pictures of our super-fun day at OMSI today! It was the first time we've taken the kids and they had a ball... although truthfully they had just as much fun with the $.50 toys we bought at the gift shop and played with for an hour in the courtyard on the way out.

After much lamenting over our complete lack of time to get things planted in the garden on the farm, we finally blocked out today for planting. The kids made it for a couple hours and then it was apparent that further progress would only occur in their absence...

So Scott took the boys to the house and I stayed until after 8pm weeding, hoeing and planting.... Carrots, tomatoes, peppers, garlic, corn, lettuce, asparagus, rhubarb...

...potatoes, onions, squash, pumpkins and sunflowers!

You just never know what you're going to find when you go to check on your kids after they've gone to sleep.

Our days have been filled with driving and distractions as we get used to holding up at Salt Creek for a while. Nonna and I took the kids to Salem on Sunday (Costco & playing on the newly re-opened Union St. bridge) while Poppy and Scott went back and worked on projects at the Acorn Ct. house all afternoon.

Overall the boys are doing great. We took down their beds and brought them with us, which has provided a little continuity to their lives. They are excited to go to Poppy & Nonna’s each night instead of going home, which I’ve been informed was “boring”.  We’re more than a little anxious to get out to the farm, but are waiting until the Peterson’s can get the remodel on their new house started (and some areas completed) and for their daughter to finish HS next month.
But the time is coming soon! So exciting…!

It's our last night on Acorn Ct! We signed papers today on the farm and tomorrow we will begin a short stay at my parent's house as we transition our way to the farm. We're a little sad, or maybe nostalgic, but excited to get the kids to a place we hope they'll call home for a long time. Here are the boys, tucked in their beds for the last time in what is basically the only house they've ever known... sniff... sniff.

For the record, I showed him how to do this. Yes, showed him... no, there will not be a video of that. It wasn't pretty.

The big, ugly siding project wrapped up today - HURRAY!
Mom, Dad & Scott pounded the last nail into place yesterday evening just as the kids were coming in for bed, and today they, along with Jim & Becky, returned to finish the caulking and trim.
What a fabulous family we have!

Meanwhile, progress on the move is still taking place, albeit a little more slowly in some areas than others. We've continued to pack and take things down around the house, although every time I really look around I'm amazed by how much still remains.

We're supposed to close on the farm this week, however the appraisal took close to four weeks (instead of ten days, which was supposed to be the "max") and we're holding our breath that our loan will come out of underwriting so we can draw up closing papers in time. Again, things wouldn't stop completely, just follow a slightly longer timeline than we were hoping for. And adding some stress....Aaaaahhhhh.....
