Well this isn't how we expected to end the day!
5" so far... and still coming down.

As I write the boys are sleeping in their bunk beds for the first time! We expected some protest - from Nolan since it was his first time out of a crib and from Carson because he had to share his room, but what we got was an hour of laughing, growling and giggling boys who apparently thought it was the best thing ever. Sort of made us feel like we just walked into something they'd been plotting for a while, but wanted us to think it was our idea... hhhmmm....Nah.

Yesterday was our final Christmas celebration with (delayed) "Christmas" dinner at Great-Grandma Henson's house. Carson was so excited about the new wheelbarrow she got him that we had to go do a few laps around the church next door to try it out. We ended the night by driving out to the Newton Lights house near Amity, OR. It's an amazing lights display set to music and you can park across the road and watch the show with your radio set to the station he broadcasts the music on. Carson loves it (we went out Christmas night as well) and we might try to sneak out again before it wraps up New Years Eve.

Carson LOVES singing Christmas carols... I love the part where he tries to make the words into something he understands. Heard in our house this weekend (while "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" was playing on the radio):
"Oh, you better not cry.
You better not cry.
You better not cry, or I'm telling on you.
Santa Claus is comin' to town!"

On this day I married my friend...
...the one I laugh with...

Love.

When it came time to purchase a good nativity set, I went with one that had a ton of pieces available so I could build it over time. (Frankly there are enough pieces in the set to actually build all of Bethlehem - and most of the rest of the Bible as well. Both testaments.) The biggest factor was you can purchase a Mary & Joseph where Mary is still pregnant and riding on a donkey. As part of our countdown until Christmas the kids get to move Mary & Joseph a little closer to the empty manger each day... they start in our garage and work their way into the house, getting a little closer each time. On Christmas morning, we'll switch to a 'new' Mary and add little Jesus to the manger.
It's a fun way for the kids to know we're getting closer to the holiday while also providing a visual reminder of the 'reason for the season'. So here's the Holy Family hanging out on the pantry shelf in our garage and then on a shelf in our living room. They are currently making their way across our refrigerator:)
