A glimpse at the world of Scott, Elaine, Carson, Nolan & Bogart!

Carson is the kind of kid where when you catch him in the dryer and give him a stern lecture about never climbing in the dryer and make sure he understands, he won't try to climb in the dryer again.

What he will do the next time you turn your back is climb into the washer instead...

Is this normal, leaving a sticker on your face for five days?
Maybe a little cookie bribery and a bath will take it off before church tomorrow...

The rain is coming down sideways today, but we used the day to get some yard work done despite the soggy conditions. (For the record it was 60+ degrees and gorgeous yesterday, which is just plain cruel, if you ask me.) One of the "must do" chores for the day was helping Carson start some pumpkin seeds so we can watch them grow over the next few months. He was pretty excited through the whole process of planting and I explained that next we needed to put them out in the rain because they needed water to grow. It made sense in my mind, but I realized when he was still staring at them about five minutes after we put them outside that he's used to a little more, say, instant gratification. This will be a good lesson in patience!

Mommy has been home sick for two days now, which means she's pretty OK with any activity that keeps the kids occupied between 5:30 (after day care) and 6:30 (when Daddy gets home).

The munchkins were feeling a bit under the weather today (yea, they look sick, don't they??) so we slept late (i.e. skipped church) and took an outing to the Riverfront Carousel in Salem instead. Because sometimes its nice to just throw "what you should do" out the window and roll with it...

We recently discovered the Story People prints when a store in town started carrying them a few months ago… if you’ve never seen them, they are whimsical with funny artwork and, for the most part, hilarious. The print titled “Invention” greets people when they walk in our house, and there are a few others that I’d love to purchase – if only I had a place for them. So instead, I’ll post links to a few of them here, just in case those who follow the blog were not already aware of my random sense of humor. Enjoy!

(By the way, I’ve never made it through reading them all so if you start playing around on the site and find some other gems, please post them to the comments section – they’re fun to read, but I never have time to get through them all.)

There was a little green post card in the mail box when we got home tonight that read, "Linfield Pre-K is now enrolling for fall 2009!"
Is Carson really going to start school in the fall??
I hope they know what they're in for!

Check out page 8 of the April 2009 issue of Adoptive Families magazine for our own little Mr. Potato Head!
Yep, someone is not going to be happy with their mom some day for sending that one in.

Surprisingly, some of the frosting made it onto the cupcakes!

We love you Daddy!

We packed up the van and headed to the Portland zoo today! It had been a while since we'd been so Carson didn't really seem to remember much from his last trip - and he thought everything was pretty amazing. Highlights of the day included riding a school bus (the shuttle from the overflow parking area), a bear, elephants, monkeys and the zoo train... of course, for Carson, anything that involves a train is a good thing. Nolan was a little less impressed, mostly because he was contained in the stroller or in our arms all day. He probably would have preferred to continue his "march" towards successful walking with some practice time at home - but we're of the opinion that day is going to come soon enough as it is. (Here's a video of him with his little toy he can push around the house.)
